Opera Noir is a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization with a mission to promote cultural diversity in the classical arts. The company is committed to preserving and performing the works of African American composers and artists in addition to performing traditional European Classical Music.

The shared goal of the Board of Directors and the Founder, J. Rosalynn Smith-Clark is to establish Opera Noir as a world-class professional performing company that provides educational outreach to school aged children, and performance development opportunities for emerging artists.

Our Commitment

To produce creative and innovative performances which meet the highest artistic standards.

Creatively convey the classical arts in a way that is intellectually and financially accessible to a diverse audience.

To celebrate the rich heritage and contributions of African American Composers and Artists as they relate to Classical Music as well as Jazz, Blues and Gospel idioms.

To maintain a commitment to multi-cultural casting to illustrate our Founder’s philosophy that "the stage should reflect the world that we live in".

To provide educational and performance opportunities for emerging artists to develop into the stars of tomorrow.

To develop and present educational outreach programs to school aged children with an emphasis on reaching children in underserved low-to-moderate income communities.
